Petrochemical Industry Overview Training Course

The Petrogenium Petrochemical Industry Overview course is a basic skill course for professionals starting to work in the refining or petrochemical business. The course is taught on awareness level and will be invaluable to all professionals, who started their career in or recently joined the refining or petrochemical industry.

Participants

This Petrogenium training can be tailored for awareness/inexperienced staff, for intermediate and for experienced personnel, although it has originally been designed as an advanced course. Furthermore the course can be customized for a specific refinery / plant or multiple sites. The option for post-course consultancy/help-desk support is also available.

Participants may include: Petrochemical trainees / GETs, Academic participants, Operations staff.

  • Introduction to petrochemical industry
  • Petrochemicals – products and uses
  • Feedstocks – composition and preparation
  • Chemicals from:
    • Paraffins – methane, ethane, propane, butane

Day 2:
  • Chemicals from:
    • Olefins – ethylene, propylene, butylene, diolefins, acetylene
    • Aromatics – benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene
    • Non-hydrocarbons – synthesis gas, hydrogen, sulphuric acid
  • Polymers:
    • Introduction
    • Polymerization processes
    • Polymer types and uses
