Johan is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of technical and leadership experience within the oil & gas industry, with considerable time spent in the oil refining sector. He is passionate about creating value in everything he does and is able to pivot between strategic, tactical and operational thinking to deliver this to his clients. His specific areas of expertise include refinery operations, technology and troubleshooting, margin and cost optimization, process safety management and safety leadership.

Johan gained his level of expertise whilst working for Shell and Petronas. He has held roles such as operations engineer, process technologist and project engineer, before taking on his first team lead role as a commissioning manager of a major capital project. After a stint in a commercial role where he worked on group-level strategic projects, Johan moved to a site leadership role as the Technology Manager of Shell’s refinery in Malaysia.

In 2021, Johan started providing consultancy services and training to a portfolio of international clients. He subsequently joined Petrogeneum as Principal Consultant in 2023.
