John is a seasoned professional with over 30 years’ experience in the Oil Refining industry. His leadership style builds respect, trust, empowerment, ethical behaviour and fosters teamwork. He delivers results through business processes and working across boundaries to engage with, align and motivate teams. John can effectively navigate complex situations due to his broad refinery experiences, knowledge and understanding of different disciplines and interacting with multiple stakeholders such as Unions and Governmental Agencies.

John’s career of 31 years spans six years at SASOL Technology and 25 years at SAPREF (Shell and BP SA Refinery) where he served in roles as Process Designer, Technologist, LP Modeler, Facility Planner, Scheduler, Business Planner, Reliability Manager, Plant Manager for Tankage/Utilities/Product Blending and for the Conversion Processes (Platformer, FCCU, HF Alky, Penex, HDS, Propylene Splitter), HSSE and Production Manager.

Through these roles he gained experience in design/technology, commercial, managements systems, continual improvement, incident investigations, turnarounds, HSSE, crises/incident management, business continuity, risk management, culture change, operational excellence, stakeholder engagement, leadership and production management.
