Tom is a chemical engineer with over 40 years of experience. Early in his career he worked for 9 years for Martin Marietta in the nuclear industry where he was involved in nuclear safeguards and uranium recovery. He then joined Shell in 1991 and spent 29.5 years where he was involved in a variety of positions. Tom supported both refinery and olefins cracking processes in day-to-day operations and technical support. He moved to Houston in 2000 in the chemical supply and trading organization. There he supported LP models and involved in optimizing feedstock selection for olefin plants and crude purchases. Tom also has experience in commercial contract negotiation where he led negotiation for dry gas contracts for Shell Chemical. In 2008 he joined Shell Global Solutions where he was been involved in Front End Development, project management and has led many early phase capital projects. These projects have included renewable diesel, refinery expansion and regulatory compliance. Tom also led hydrocarbon master plans, hydrocarbon margin reviews and business improvement plans. He also taught Refinery Supply and Economics, Introduction to Downstream and course on process integration. Since leaving Shell in Fall of 2020 he has been an independent consultant.
