Wim worked at Shell for 35 years in training, technology, and operations functions in both oil refineries and central office technical support organisations. Hence, he has a broad background in the technology, operation, economics, and organisation of oil refineries.

Between 1999 and 2009 Wim was course director of Learning and Development, responsible for developing and delivering training courses on Hydroprocessing, thermal cracking, Reforming, and HF Alkylation.

Wim has lectured all over the world (Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Asian Pacific, and Africa) delivering numerous courses for both Shell and non-Shell personnel.

Wim has also participated in many energy audits for refineries in Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East.
